BELIEFS, VALUES + ATTITUDES
WHERE DO YOU BEGIN?

EXPRESS

With the members of your classroom team, look back at your initial responses.  What elements of your current practice could be categorized as traditional?  Constructivist?  Using the attached form, identify one area for each category and develop SMART goals to strive for.

SMART goals can be defined as....

/// Place your cursor over each letter for the definition
SPECIFIC
MEASURABLE
AGREED-UPON
REALISTIC
TIME-SPECIFIC
For example, if your team wants to implement responsible learning as described in the table, a SMART goal might look like this:

We aim to support responsible learning by incorporating realistic materials in our science area.  This includes adding a basket of real, natural wood blocks and leaves for children to build animal habitats in the next two weeks.

This goal is both specific by naming required materials, measurable by stating how many new materials are added (a basket), agreed-upon (who will gather the materials?), realistic (cost and time are considered factors), and time-specific (in the next two weeks).  Posting these goals in a visible place ensures that all team members are responsible and accountable.
